The Long Beach - Musique Sur La Mer Youth Orchestras was founded in 2000 by Maestro Sudock. The youth programs include five orchestra experiences for musicians in elementary school through college-aged students from the Long Beach and surrounding Southern California communities.

Musique Sur La Mer Youth Symphony Orchestra

The acclaimed Long Beach - Musique Sur La Mer Youth Symphony Orchestra is available for advanced strings, woodwinds, brass, keyboard, and percussion instrumentalists by audition. This is a multigenerational orchestra available to qualified middle school, high school, and college students and their parents and grandparents. MSLMYSO performs a minimum of three concerts per concert season and a bi-annual concert tour.

Where We Have Been

LB-MSLMYSO travels the globe, performing in the world’s most prestigious concert venues, as well as donating concerts to schools and hospitals. LB-MSLMYSO hosts youth orchestras from around the world. In an effort to expand cultural awareness and expand cultural awareness, LB-MSLMYSO expands its repertoire to include non-western music.

Since their inaugural year they have performed in the following countries:

  • Australia (Sydney) – Sydney Opera House
  • Czech Republic (Podebrady and Prague)
  • Austria (Vienna) – The Musikverien – Saal – Golden Hall

  • England (London) – Royal College of Music, Blenheim Palace, Gloucester Cathedral, Hampton Court Palace, St. John's Smith Square, Canary Wharf Arts Festival
    • Diamond Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II
    • Wedding of TRH Prince William and Princess Catherine
    • Coronation of TM King Charles III and Queen Camilla
  • New Zealand (Auckland, Christchurch Cathedral and Hastings)

Concerts & Performances

LB-MSLMYSO performs a minimum of three concerts locally each concert season, including:

  • Autumnfest - Halloween Spooktacular
  • Musique Sur La Mer-ry Holiday Concert
  • Concert and Festival Celebrating Peace and Cultural Diversity
  • Season Finale
  • Plus a variety of concerts locally
  • Bi-annually concert tour

LB-MSLMYSO sponsors an annual solo competition showcasing rising musical stars.

  • LB-MSLMYO includes college prep. Most of our young musicians have earned partial to full scholarships.
  • Many of the LB-MSLMYO musicians have earned full or partial scholarships into some of the most prestigious universities including – Yale, USC, UCLA, Pepperdine, Stanford, Pomona College, UCSD, UCSC, UCSB and more plus Juilliard, Curtis Institute, Berklee School of Music, San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Eastman School of Music, to name but a few!
